CEZ Group´s Growth

The enlargement of CEZ Group by regional power distribution companies and increase in shares in other important companies, such as Severočeské doly or ŠKODA PRAHA, significantly enriched Group´s activities and enhanced its position on the power market. In the Czech Republic, CEZ Group supplies electricity to nearly 3.5m supply points. Another 1.9m consumers are covered through the three Bulgarian companies, which reinforced the Group in January 2005. At the end of 2005 1.4 new customers came due to the acquisition of the Romanian distribution company Electrica Oltenia. CEZ Group came up to the eighth place among the European power companies by the number of customers.

In addition to distribution, CEZ Group is also developing its production sources portfolio – the installed capacity of 12,298 MW was increased owing to the purchase of two Polish power plants with the total installed capacity of 830 MW in 2006.

In the long term, the Group has been strengthening its position on the markets in Cetral and Eastern Europe – at the present it is operating, together with the Czech Republic, also in Bulgaria, Romania and Poland, it has its trade agencies in Germany, Slovakia, Hungary, and its agencies in Serbia and Kosovo are monitoring business opportunities there.
