Electricity Production

CEZ Group generates total 60,000 GWh of electricity per year. In 2006 it operated 2 nuclear power plants, 15 coal-fired power sources in the Czech Republic, 3 coal-fired sources abroad, 34 hydro-power plants including 3 pumping stations, 2 localities with wind-power plants and 1 solar-power plant. CEZ Group´s production accounts for nearly three quarters of the total quantum of electric energy produced in the Czech Republic.

CEZ Group places emphasis on raising productivity; it increased by more than a half during the six years from 2000. The added value per an employee per month has been rising in the long term as well. With the aim of keeping the trend, CEZ Group has started its coal-fired power plants renewal program in the amount of roughly 100bn CZK. The program includes comprehensive renewal of 11 soft-coal units, construction of two new units and shut-downs of 14 units which are no longer economical.
