In the course of its modern history CEZ Group´s parent company has invested over 200bn CZK into its development and ecological measures. Due to the ecological programs, SO2 emissions have been reduced by 92 %, solid fly-ash by 95 %, nitrogen oxides by 50 % and carbon monoxide by 77 % compared to the level at the beginning of the 90s. All coal-fired power plants of CEZ Power Company are equipped with facilities for reducing emission levels of air pollutants. Due to other investments into ecology, which are in case of CEZ Power Company the highest of all companies in the Czech Republic, CEZ Group´s sources meet the strictest standards imposed by the legislative of the European Union.

On top of emission reductions, CEZ Group focuses on power production from renewable sources – a strong position belongs to hydro-power plants in the Czech Republic. CEZ Group operates two localities with wind-power plants (Mravenečník and Nový Hrádek) and one solar-power plant (Dukovany). There are a few plants that combust biomass and other suitable plant fuels are being tested.
