Jiri Borovec has been elected a member of the CEZ Board

Jiri Borovec also becomes the Executive Director for Production of CEZ, a.s. from 1 November, and will thus head a new section which will cover the entire CEZ power production area. Jiri Borovec has replaced Jiri Vagner in the Board of Directors.

Jiri Borovec has worked in the power field since 1995. He is coming to CEZ from his previous post of Chairman of the Board and CEO of Skoda JS joint-stock company. He has many years´ experience of work in an international company, when he worked for ABB company for more than five years. First, he was the Staff Manager, in 1999 and 2000 CEO of ABB Service the Czech Republic and Business Unit Manager of ABB Service Central Europe.

Jiri Borovec speaks English (state exam at Masaryk University, Brno and Distinguished Diploma DLIELC - San Antonio, Texas, USA), Spanish (state exam at Masaryk University, Brno and Diploma Basico de Espanol - an exam of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Spanish Kingdom), Russian (state exam at the State Language School in Brno) and Croatian (self-taught person during a year UN mission in former Yugoslavia). He is Vice-chairman of the Board of the Chamber for Commercial Relations with CIS and a member of the Air Amateur Association of the Czech Republic. One of his hobbies is flying ultra-light planes. Jiri Borovec is married, he has a son Jiri and a daughter Iveta.

Ing. Jiri Borovec (*1964) graduated from Defence College, Brno (main subject obtoelectronics, laser, computer science), Masaryk University, Brno (English, Spanish, Russian), United States Air Force Defence Language Institute (Texas, USA) and Brno Business School-Nottingham Trent University, MBA studies. In 1997 he also passed the ABB International Management Workshop for ABB Group Senior Top Managers, in 1999 he earned the ABB Service Management Certificate. In 1990-1995 he worked as an English, Spanish and Russian language interpreter for the Army of the Czech Republic, the Chief of the Translation Department´s language section of the Defence College, Brno, an interpreter to the Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic, a UN military observer in former Yugoslavia (UNPROFOR) and a training team commander for UNMO UNPROFOR. He worked as an Operating Control Officer in Sarajevo sector (Lima), and the Foreign Relations Officer to the General Chief of Staff of the Army of the Czech Republic.
