We are surprised that key knowledge presented by DNV in the press conference of the Ministry of Environment is that planned efficiency of the reconstructed power plant is 40.19%. This information of the Ministry of Environment has been known and well justified since June 2008 that we submitted a EIA application. Higher efficiency is not feasible to implement on reasonable economic conditions due to quality and volume of available coal. This information is available both to media and the public for a long time.

Today, in the headquarters of CEZ, a. s., the Information Meeting of company representatives with candidates qualified in procurement procedure of public contract: "Completion of the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant".

Energy companies CEZ and AES had closed their cooperation in the consortium, which will not attend the ongoing tender proceeding for construction of new generation capacity and reconstruction of the existing power plant, including adjacent coal mine Sibovc in Kosovo.

Prunéřov – Nongovernmental organisations systematically argue about the planned complex refurbishment of the Prunéřov II Power Plant with their half-truths or untruths. It is not the truth that the prepared modernisation will damage environment in North Bohemia. It is not the truth that ČEZ wants to install obsolete technologies. The contrary is the case, the fictive option promoted by nongovernmental organisations is infeasible in reality not just in technical and economic aspect but also in terms of ecology.

Prague, 25 January 2010 – In 2009 the ČEZ Group produced over 327 million kWh of electric power from biomass in consumer’s power plants. Improvements of the Hodonín power plant enabling increased volumes of the burned biomass proved to be positive.

Prunéřov – Continually repeating declaration of ecological activists and similar people regarding the planned complex refurbishment of the Prunéřov II power plant is full of fallacious statements. For example it is not truth that ČEZ wants to erect “old scrap” corresponding with the technical level of last millennium and especially everything that is somehow related to the planned increase of efficiency of the power plant after its refurbishment. ČEZ also acts upon the valid legislation of the Czech Republic and legal regulations of the European Union. Because it is not possible to do otherwise.

Hodonín, 6 January 2010 – One of the units dedicated exclusively to the burning of biomass was successfully started up on the last day of the year by Hodonín power plant employees. The electricity output is up to 30 MW and requires 1200 tons of biomass a day.

For the first three quarters of this year CEZ, the Power Group achieved a net profit of 44.2 billion CZK which is an interim increase by 6.6 per cent. Especially the sale of electric power for this year already in 2008, before the drop of prices due to the impending recession, contributed to the increase of the net profit. There has been an interim increase of profit despite the overall decrease of electric power consumption due to the continuing economic crises and despite the decrease of spot prices. We still expect the annual net profit to be on the level of 50.2 billion CZK.

Prague, 11 November 2009 – The first big photovoltaic plant is being launched by the CEZ Group in southern Moravia. The facility situated in Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou has an installed power capacity of 3.73 MW. It will produce 3.7 million kWh annually and it will cover the consumption of 1 100 households.
