Yesterday CEZ Power Company submitted a tender for a purchase of the majority share in United Energy, a.s.

CEZ Power Company has today waived to the Office of Fair Trading (UOHS) its memorandum against UOHS´s decision from March 10 2005, which allows CEZ to keep its majority share in Severoceska energetika.

Pursuant to the offer for a purchase of stocks announced in January, CEZ Power Company has gained not only the share hitherto held by the state, but also the shares from small shareholders. CEZ´s capital participation in Skoda Praha has thus increased from standing 68.88 %, by 28.72 %, to 97.6 %, the referred-to share represents also a participation in the company´s voting rights.

CEZ Power Company invested 4.9 billion CZK last year. The finances were put only into capital construction, excluding, for example, financial investments connected with the purchase of three Bulgarian distribution firms. The main attention was paid to the nuclear energy field, namely 2.9 billion CZK. However, this situation is going to change completely in the following years, because there is renovation of ageing coal-fired power plants in for CEZ.

In 2004 the hydro power plants without pumped-storage (storage and through-flow plants falling into the category of renewable sources) produced 1,192 GWh within the CEZ Group, out of which 84.4 % were produced directly by power plants of CEZ (1,006 GWh).

CEZ Power Company generated a historic record amount of electricity last year, when the production in its power stations reached 61 602 GWh (61.6 milliard B.O.T. units). The previous year´s production (60 934 GWh) was surpassed by 1.1 per cent.

The general meeting of CEZ has today approved control agreements with CEZData, s.r.o., CEZ Customer services, s.r.o. and CEZ Logistics, s.r.o., and has thus completed another phase of the company restructuring towards the regional distribution companies integration. The aim of the transformation is to make the operation of the CEZ Group more effective and to satisfy the EU conditions of unbundling production and power distribution department.
